SHOP TALK - ECLECTIC BACHELOR

We had a good time with this project.  Chesterfield sofas + kilim + a bit of Union Jack = fun, urban cool.  Here's the concept we developed which resulted in the spaces above:
two bachelors who, though very different, share one thing in common: they both fancy themselves as rock n’ roll enthusiasts, scotch experts, and up and coming career men. Incorporating bold colors with warm woods, aged metals, and unique art and accessories, this space is a sophisticated, eclectic, rock-lovin' bachelor pad.
And P.S., this was done using a mix of high and low.  Ikea, CB2, and other retailers mixed in with some "to the trade" items helps to elevate this project on a budget...

celebrating 100 - our first giveaway & "meet & greet"!

We are celebrating "100"!  If you didn't hear this morning (ok it's not like it was on the news, but..) we arrived at our 100th post!  I feel pretty good about it and can't believe that we hit 100!  To celebrate, we are hosting our first giveaway on our blog and offering a piece from the Studio Surface shop!   This is my absolute favorite necklace that I wear with everything.  Seriously, I think everyone is getting tired of seeing me wearing it. This little treasure is handcrafted by Jake out of black and white ebony and strung with gold fill chain.

We also thought it would be fun to host a blog "meet and greet" if you will.  I have met so many great bloggers since I started and love meeting more!  If it goes well, it is something we would like to do every month.  So, here is how to enter the giveaway AND participate in our first blog "meet and greet":

one. participate in our first "meet and greet" by saying hi and leaving a comment with your name and blog if you have one.  If you don't have a blog, that's ok, just leave a link to your favorite blog that you think everyone should check out!

two. become a friend of our blog and start following the fun!  Just follow to the right. Make sure to also leave a comment below letting us know you did so we can add your name to the giveaway bowl.

three. we have been having a great time on twitter too meeting and chatting with folks.  So, hang out with us on Twitter and follow our silliness and fun there too.  Also leave a comment below so we know that you did!

four.  finally, come say hi on Facebook and "like" our page.  We love new friends and we have fun there too. Again, leave a comment below so we can say hi and "like" back.

Do one or all four of the above for more chances to receive our little treasure.  I hope that you love the necklace as much as I do! Please note that due to the individual characteristics of wood, that each piece is unique and one of a kind.

Blog Post #100!

Our 100th post!  I can't believe it actually.  It was about 6 months ago when my very good friend encouraged me to join the blogosphere.  I have been having a lot of fun and have learned so much from my blog friends.  I hope you'll hang with me for our next 100 posts!

P.S. Be sure to check back later on today to see what surprise we have in store to celebrate 100!  We think you'll like!

friday four & faves - our shop's newest little treasures...

As part of our brand: "art.design.objects", we design and create handcrafted architectural wood accessories, jewelry, and furniture right here in Del Mar.  My husband Jake hand makes all these sweet treasures and we are excited to show you our newest pieces!  We launched our shop in February but we have sadly, kind of left it on the back burner while working on client projects.  Well we want to re-introduce our shop and ask what do you think of our new pieces??  We would love your feedback! Keep a look out for some additional accessories and furniture coming soon....

In the Studio.....

Love was the theme all weekend and a little bit of it carried into the studio too. As we are making preparations to launch our Etsy shop later this week (yeah!!), we thought we would share with you the happenings in our studio and let you in on a little of the action. Jake has been rocking out in the woodworking shop and has created some amazing architectural wood pieces that are part of our lifestyle brand: art. design. objects. Among them was a sweet bracelet he made for me for Valentine's Day, (love him), and the amazingly beautiful Bocote piece you see below.... Enjoy!
