I love having my office at home but have been dreaming of building a modern shed/studio in the back yard one day. And then I saw this. This changes everything! Darn you Archipod! This sweet round thing would be perfect for my design studio and would fit right in a modern Californian yard. Prefabricated, fully insulated, roomy and stylish, this hip garden office is right up my alley. Then I saw the price. It's a bit astronomical but I can dream right? One thing is for sure, it has inspired me to design-build a less expensive version for my future outdoor design studio. Now that would be one heck of a DIY to share with you all. :)

The outdoor area of Dwell on Design was probably my favorite feature. If I recall correctly, the "outdoor" portion of the show was designed by Form LA Landscaping and it looked fantastic. Besides the modern shed that I talked about yesterday, here are some more highlights of the show that I absolutely loved.
Clockwise from top, the greenform planters are great. I'm thrilled that modern, architectural planters are so much easier to source now. This arrow planter made from lightweight recyclable fiber cement is perfect for indoors or out.
The second image showing the "pebbles" is another fave. What incredible sculptural pieces to add to your lawn or patio! A fusion of sculpture and furniture, they are made of wood, resin, fabric, and cast stone AND they're available from EIS studio in Venice right on Abbot Kinney.
Then there was the much talked about air plant "chandelier". It was truly beautiful and must have taken so much time and patience to thread each little sweet. It was incredible!
Now we come to the garden wall bar. It's a vertical garden system by Fytowall made of modular panels that can be used both indoor and outdoor. I love that you can create your own vertical herb garden on any surface. I could envision one in my future back yard with a secret door hidden within the wall.

I had a fabulous time at Dwell on Design in L.A. this weekend and am so anxious to share some cool finds with you throughout the week. First up is lovely Wallter. You may remember Wallter from the infamous 3D wall stickers and wall decor that we all came to love. And now (thankfully) they have grown to include stylish planters. Yay! Available in wall mounted (my favorite), hanging, or on a post, these powder coated aluminum planters are now added to my wishlist and will be part of my summer projects this year.

....playin' in the garden.
I had so much fun this weekend creating my succulent arrangements! I have said it a million times but I'll say it again. I absolutely love succulents! So much in fact, that they were the "flowers" in my wedding bouquets and centerpieces two years ago. I actually used the "offspring" of the boutonnieres that we planted after the wedding! They are the most architecturally perfect little beings and like the crazy I am, I talked and cooed to them the whole time I was planting and arranging. I, with the guidance of my father-in-law (a gardener rock star) created two arrangements for my beautiful planter stands and one pretty succulent bowl all which are now residing in their new home, my patio....Here is how they came to be:

This is the larger of the two planter inserts at top. Look at the "starfish" little guy. He's actually a type of aloe and decided he needed to come home with me too.
Here's his close-up shot.
And here is my succulent bowl. It looks pretty barren now but the middle one will grow to be large and will spiral out from its center in a very cool shape.
And here are the planters! They still have a bit of growing to do and I will fill in the bare spots with gravel and moss, but I'm thrilled with how they are starting out. I'm already thinking up my next planting project to share!

The weather here in San Diego has been amazing this week so my thoughts have been wandering to the outdoors, the nearby beach, and right up to my little patio/oasis. It needs a little freshening up and updating for the season and I found four amazing faves to help me out...
Scouted on Etsy this week, featured seller LBRANDTerraria is satisfying my love of terrariums and all things miniature. Soon, Jake and I will be planning one of our regular camping weekends in Borrego and this little treasure feels like my own miniature desert hanging from my patio...
This soft wood sofa by Front for Moroso would pair perfectly opposite my clear Victoria Ghost Chairs. The weather in San Diego is arid so this sofa can withstand the outdoors. This "sofa" would look great softened with these burlap pillows:
Inspired by Martha, I'm starting a mini garden this spring to house my tower of herbs out on the patio. (Thanks for the tip Norm!) These old fashioned gardening tools from objetpetita on Etsy may just make me feel like I know what I'm doing.
