I'm just gonna look...
I took these pics a year ago this week. And honestly it feels about that long since I have enjoyed the nearby beach and the beautiful surroundings I'm blessed to be a part of. It's hard for me to not get lost in the mountainous "to-do" list, constantly looking ahead and not around. This weekend I am going to work on that - looking around me and not what's ahead. Instead of being absorbed in thoughts of work and schedule and what I could be doing better, I'm going to notice the beach and and enjoy the smell as I drive by, take a breath and just enjoy it. Here's to a happy weekend friends!

and it's a wrap
Remember the California exam that consumed my life for a good while? Well I passed it! Insert sigh of relief. It feels good to check that off and clear up that head space for something else...
Because I know me, and I will quickly add another item on my ever growing to do list.
So, I'm going to relax and celebrate a bit this weekend, get to work on handmade holiday gifts, and take care of grocery shopping for the big day next week. What do y'all have planned?

my pride and joy
It's the little things that make me happy, my husband as a fat ballerina with a 5 o'clock shadow for example. And any opportunity to laugh my a** off at something as ridiculous as this is truly what keeps me going. It's absolutely fantastic. Let me also preface this by saying that he has no idea this is being posted. :) Here is what transpired Sunday evening in the actual order of events:
OK so obviously my laughter and insults started to wear on Jake's nerves. But really how do you take a pissed off fat triangle seriously? He went from mildly annoyed to seriously rooted in about 30 seconds and it was priceless....
I know some of the pics are blurry but that is purely because of me walking while laughing while snapping.

the weekend at last
The weekend. Finally! This has been a crazy week. So crazy in fact, that I didn't get to go estate sale-ing and thrifting with my Friday finds friend Bianca. Bummer right? I did get lots accomplished but it looks like I will be working right through the weekend which also happens to be my and Jake's b-days. So, I'm hoping we get a little R & R at some point and some fun packages like the ones above. :) Speaking of packages, I just sent out a lot to a dear friend for a super fun blog event coming up. I love creating little treasures with a simple, homemade with love feel. And I can't wait to find out how the recipients react to them. I will be sure to share details and pics later....

monday meet and greet, an Autumn Party
Good morning! I hope every one had a fantastic weekend! Mine was kicked off with my weekly estate sale-ing/thrifting adventure with Bianca. We stumbled upon an estate sale on our way to Matilda's Mouse. I scored some great finds - an old wire basket and some old fashioned Ball mason jars that will be perfect for storing knick-knacks or tea lights for the patio. Speaking of Ball jars, I also tagged along with Bianca and Grace to a fantastic store opening for Bixby and Ball in Solana Beach. It was a super fun night with champagne, treats, and beautiful objects and trinkets in an even more beautiful setting. I can't wait to do some more shopping there for upcoming projects...
Fall is here and I am looking forward to the get-togethers with friends and family during all the upcoming holidays. And in the spirit of Autumn gatherings, feel free to say hi and leave a link to your blog below so that we can come hang out at your place for a bit. and i'm off...
Happy Friday! I don't know about y'all but I had an amazing week and am looking forward to a lovely weekend. Last night, a happy hour with local blogger friends helped to kick off the weekend with lots of chatting, orneriness, and laughs. Margaritas and fish tacos along with these lovely ladies, Alexis, Bianca, Haydee, Heather, Grace, Alexandra and Julia were what I needed to charge into the weekend. And if you haven't already met these gals well you need to. Swing by their blogs today and introduce yourself already. This morning, sassy Bianca let me tag along on a thrifting trip and I swear she has the most amazing shopping luck which thankfully a little bit rubbed off on me. I can't wait to see how Bianca transforms some of her finds. I will be sharing mine too in the next few days.
Well I'm off to savor the last days of summer here in southern California while they're still around. Beach, family supper, and art walk are waiting. I hope you have fantastic weekend plans too!

This weekend marked 2 years in my and Jake's adventure. Only a little over 3 years that we've been together yet it's hard to remember my life before him. I guess that means it didn't really start until then. Here's to 70 more...

holla!
I don't know about y'all but I am super stoked that the weekend is here! This has been a good albeit busy week. I turned in my final grades and can relax for a week before I begin teaching this next semester. Lord give me strength.
I had a blast happy hour-ing it up with both new and old friends this week and am looking forward to another round to come!
I wrapped up two projects this week and am focusing on new ones in the works...please keep 'em coming!
For the weekend, in between yoga, BBQ, and art show, we are going to cram in some relaxation somewhere before Monday, maybe even get a little beach time while Summer is still kickin' around....
I hope your weekend is fantastic and I'll see you Monday! We have a super fun "meet and greet" planned. You don't want to miss!

Happy Friday friends! I don't know about you but I am looking forward to the weekend. I have had a great week: yoga, family, having coffee with a new friend, and new projects! This weekend I am blessed to be spending time with family coming in from L.A., seeing family friends perform in the park, and picnic-ing with loved ones. I bet that we will squeeze in a bit of beach time too. It would be lovely to stay in this perfect beach home of pretty like the one above....

It's Monday. I'd rather be....
......on a bike ride with Jake. We had such a great time yesterday! I'm not going to lie, the bike ride did kick my rear end though. We rode from Del Mar to Solana Beach and back. Look how cute our bikes are together. Mine is the sweet and sassy orange one of course while Jake prefers his bike "murdered out".
It looks like I may be the only person working today. :( For all you lucky folk, enjoy your day and we'll meet up again tomorrow!

It's Monday. I'd rather be....
I had so much fun this weekend creating my succulent arrangements! I have said it a million times but I'll say it again. I absolutely love succulents! So much in fact, that they were the "flowers" in my wedding bouquets and centerpieces two years ago. I actually used the "offspring" of the boutonnieres that we planted after the wedding! They are the most architecturally perfect little beings and like the crazy I am, I talked and cooed to them the whole time I was planting and arranging. I, with the guidance of my father-in-law (a gardener rock star) created two arrangements for my beautiful planter stands and one pretty succulent bowl all which are now residing in their new home, my patio....Here is how they came to be:
I'm pointing to the boutonniere babies that are going to their new home.
This is the larger of the two planter inserts at top. Look at the "starfish" little guy. He's actually a type of aloe and decided he needed to come home with me too.
And here is my succulent bowl. It looks pretty barren now but the middle one will grow to be large and will spiral out from its center in a very cool shape.
And here are the planters! They still have a bit of growing to do and I will fill in the bare spots with gravel and moss, but I'm thrilled with how they are starting out. I'm already thinking up my next planting project to share!

friday four & faves - fam in santa monica
I have been enjoying my weekend in Santa Monica with my nieces who are on spring break. I forgot how fun imagination without limits can be. Kids are so creative! From dress-up, to tie-dye, to pretend carnival (with, games, tickets, and prizes of course), I have found some inspiration in the most unexpected places...
1) Make-up practice brings back memories (and a little bit of a mess) :D.

Grays and Blues.....
Saturday was such a beautiful "winter's" day in San Diego. The tide was definitely affected by the tragic earthquake south of us in Chile. The day was haunting silver and mist... I find I sort of prefer cloudy beach over sunny beach sometimes. Blasphemy I know. But spring is on its way and with that comes more vibrant blues, aquas, yellows. All inspired by the same backdrop.
